Silverstone completes phase one of multi-million pound developments at global construction firm HQ

Silverstone has completed a two-storey office extension and mezzanine at Hitachi Construction Machinery UK’s Hebburn headquarters.

The new 6,500 sq. ft. steel frame internal extension includes office space, locker rooms, changing facilities, showers and a graphics print and lamination room.

Silverstone was project manager and contract administrator and brought Tri Construction on board as main contractor.

Following the successful completion of the building, Silverstone will then carry out further projects for the construction firm, including a heating refurbishment of a 65,000 sq. ft. unit and other infrastructure upgrading works.

Phil Bone, Silverstone Building Consultancy director said: “Working with such a respected, global brand is a privilege and we’re excited that our completed work for HCMUK has impressed and led to us being appointed on further projects.”

The design team for the completed extension included Seymour Architecture, structural engineers, SHED, mechanical and engineering experts, JCP, and Blue Keep Building Control.

Dave Roberts, Hitachi Construction Machinery UK chief executive said: “Silverstone has done a great job of delivering an industry leading facility that will improve our capacity and productivity, as well as enhancing the welfare of our team.

“The main challenge was constructing the extension safely and efficiently, whilst remaining fully operational but I’m pleased to say we achieved that thanks to strong collaboration between all parties involved.

“We are continuing our partnership with Silverstone to deliver the next key pieces of the jigsaw that will create a world-class facility here in Hebburn.”

Silverstone Building Consultancy is a firm of chartered building surveyors and project managers with offices in Leeds, Newcastle and London.
