Stockton’s Encora Energy powers on with ‘peaker’ plant work

An engineering and management services consultancy has expanded its UK reach after supporting the delivery of near £10 million power developments.

Encora Energy worked on gas-fired peaking plants in Norfolk and Lincolnshire.

Known as ‘peakers’, the hubs balance the national grid during high periods of electricity demand.

The Stockton-based firm’s work ranged from identifying suitable sites to overseeing construction, and came after similar support on the commissioning of two peaking plants in Sunderland and Peterlee, east Durham.

Andrew Normand, business development director, said: “Our latest projects reaffirm our commitment to fast-tracking Britain’s transition to a low-carbon electricity system.

“These gas peaking plants can provide the extra energy needed during periods of high demand.”
