Infostretch embraces T-Levels to drive digital skills

Digital engineering leader partners with Sunderland College to provide on-the-job training for 16-19 year olds

A digital engineering services firm is welcoming its first intake of T-Level students.

Infostretch, in partnership with Sunderland College, is offering work placement opportunities to learners of the two-year course, which is aimed at 16-19-year-olds.

Sunderland College is part of Education Partnership North East, and recently received funding from the Government’s T-Level Capital Fund to invest in a £3 million immersive environment dedicated to delivering the qualifications.

Developed in collaboration with employers, T-Levels combine classroom learning and on-the-job experience designed to meet industry needs.

The newly-designed qualifications are part of the Government’s skills drive, a priority designed to help plug the nation’s growing skills gap, with a shortage in digital and data particularly acute.

“I can’t think of an industry that isn’t being disrupted by digital,” said Martin Williams, head of Infostretch UK.

“However, the dizzying rate of digital adoption now means the demand for digital skills is outstripping supply.

“As employers, we have a crucial role to play in shaping future skills, growth and productivity.

“Engaging with Sunderland College and the ambitious young people embarking on their T-Levels is a win-win situation for employers and students alike.

“Alongside their classroom learning, we’re giving students real-life experience of what it’s like solving some of the world’s most exciting digital challenges.”
