Kromek hails ‘excellent momentum’ after US security deal

A technology firm whose equipment helps foil terror attacks has secured a contract worth more than £2 million.

Kromek Group has agreed a deal to continue sending its radiation detectors to an existing US federal customer.

The tie-up comes just weeks after Kromek, based at NETPark, in Sedgefield, County Durham, picked up a contract worth more than £1.5 million to send parts to a US customer for use in explosive detection equipment.

Dr Arnab Basu, chief executive, said: “This reflects the strength of our longstanding business relationships and the quality of our nuclear security offering.

“We are continuing to experience excellent momentum as the threats to public security persist across the globe.

“We believe our products provide best-in-class capability to manage these threats and, consequently, we expect to receive further nuclear security orders in the near term.”
