A County Durham technology firm has secured two contracts worth a near combined £10 million.
Filtronic will supply power amplifier modules for low earth orbit satellite communications equipment.
The firm, which operates a site on Sedgefield’s NETPark, will also send radio frequency electronic modules to a UK defence sector operator.
Bosses say its amplifier apparatus – known as Cerus32, and carrying a contract value of £4.8 million – will be installed in ground station locations as part of earth station antenna deployment.
They add delivery of its defence equipment – worth £4.5 million – includes a product qualification phase beginning in January 2024, with delivery of final units scheduled over a 12-month period starting in the final quarter of next year.
Richard Gibbs, chief executive, said: “The customer has always valued the flexibility of the Cerus32 design, and with this new contract is keen to take advantage of the additional power our second-generation product provides.
“The second contract is yet another example of our ability to support the UK defence industry.”
