North East’s best bloggers crowned at awards

The winners were revealed at last night’s (Nov 10) event

The North East’s top bloggers were named at the only awards ceremony that celebrates blogging talent in the North East, last night (Tuesday 10 November) at Bonbar, Newcastle.

Categories in The North East Blogger Awards included beauty, business, food and drink, lifestyle, parenting, student, travel with new categories for 2015 including best Instablogger, best looking blog, best music blog and homes and interiors.

Once again the competition culminated in the North East Blogger of the Year, sponsored by Intu Metrocentre, which saw Cherly Lumley from All Round Creative Junkie scoop the top award.

The event is the brainchild of Newcastle creative communications agency O PR, and attracts well-known national and international brands as sponsors including Primula Cheese, Dr.Martens, Tommee Tippee and Greggs.

Judging the awards this year was O PR’s digital strategist Holly Peacock and 2014 North East Blogger of the Year winner Samantha Rickelton of North East Family Fun blog alongside a judge from each of the category sponsors.

O PR’s Holly Peacock said: “This is the second North East Blogger Awards and this year we received over 650 nominations from an impressive range of bloggers. The breadth and quality of blogging in the North East just keeps getting stronger.

“The event was a fun-packed evening of inspiration, networking and a celebration – it really is great to see so many digital influencers right here in our region making such big impressions and taking the vibrancy of life in the North East to a global audience. Huge congratulations to all the bloggers who were nominated.

“Big thanks also to Bonbar for allowing us to host the successful event in its glamorous venue, JC Events for the impressive stage set and all our sponsors for getting involved to make it happen.”

Dan Black from Metro Radio compered the event, which saw entertainment from Facebooth North East, drinks samples from The Lakes Distillery and blogger gifts from Funky Laser and Greggs.
