Oak Engage helps Five Guys connect to its workforce

A global burger restaurant has chosen a North East technology company to help meet the engagement needs of its workforce.

Oak Engage is working with Five Guys to connect its workforce throughout the UK, France, Germany and Spain.

The Newcastle-based company enables businesses to engage and connect their people through its mobile app and SaaS platform.

The platform provides a range of internal communications tools that integrate seamlessly with office applications, helping improve productivity.

Five Guys relied on traditional methods of communications pre-pandemic but now needs a more effective solution to connect its deskless workforce and promote a positive culture.

Oak has created a fully personalised service for Five Guys, with the burger chain’s brand identity represented throughout the new app, which is called ‘Chatty Patty’.

Chris Raaff, head of recruitment and internal communications at Five Guys, said: “We launched Oak to the entire Five Guys workforce in the middle of the pandemic, and it’s been a game-changer in the way we communicate and engage with our people.

“We don’t know what we would have done during 2020 if we didn’t have Oak.

“Just about every single restaurant said that Chatty Patty was such a lifeline to them and reassured them that the business was going to survive and that they were going to be kept safe.”

Bastian Bauermeister, communications manager – UK at Five Guys, said: “Oak provided a well-rounded app that did a bit of everything and we thought that was perfect for us.

“Whatever we’ve asked for from Oak we’ve absolutely received and that’s hugely reassuring.”

Will Murray, CEO at Oak Engage said: “We understand just how important it is for businesses to stay connected with their employees, especially during the pandemic, so we’re delighted to be able to support Five Guys during this transition, offering a streamlined process and giving them the tools they need to engage their workforce.

“Oak is revolutionising the digital workplace, and enabled Five Guys to boost employee engagement, promote employee wellbeing and connect their stores through one app, which 99 per cent of users are now accessing on their mobile device.”

The partnership with Five Guys follows a series of contract wins for Oak with household brands such as Aldi, Halford and ITV.
