NBS host business breakfast to raise funds for Team Kenya
May 3, 2019
Charity Team Kenya is challenging North East businesses to come forward and take part in their first business challenge in the region.
“Walk in her Footsteps” is aimed at raising money to educate and transform the lives of girls and women in rural Kenya.
One of the first businesses to offer support has been Newcastle based technology platform, NBS which is hosting a business breakfast at their offices at The Old Post Office, St Nicholas’ Street Newcastle on 8th May from 8.30am to 10.00am.
Chief operating officer Helen Whitfield said: “We are really pleased to help Team Kenya by hosting this event. Gender diversity is very important to us and we demonstrate that commitment throughout our business.
“We are also passionate about education and we have been involved in a number of initiatives with schools in the region and most recently with the new North East Futures UTC in Newcastle. This is a brilliant charity and I would encourage businesses to get involved.”
The event will give anyone interested the opportunity to hear about the life changing work of Team Kenya and how their business could take part in the challenge.
Team Kenya is a leading North East based charity for educating girls, empowering women and changing lives in rural Kenya. Their vision is for every girl in Kenya to have an equal chance to achieve her potential and be free from poverty. They do this by involving entire communities in Ndhiwa, rural Kenya in gender equality, so that girls in can create their own bright futures.
Supporting the event on behalf of Team Kenya, Nickie Gott said: “Team Kenya work with businesses of all sizes and across all sectors to deliver inspirational projects and we help our partners meet their gender diversity and corporate social responsibility goals.
“As consumers become increasingly conscious of gender-based issues, Team Kenya is a natural fit for any company looking to improve their diversity credentials, influence consumers, attract new customers or retain loyal ones.
“We already have lots of interest in the challenge from businesses across the region, but we are looking for more so please sign up to what is a great cause and come along to our business breakfast on May 8th.”
