North East software development firm announces record performance and recruitment drive

North East software development firm, Leighton, has announced a 31% increase in revenue during the 2024 financial year, with plans to create 20 more jobs over the next 12 months.

The business – which specialises in software products and digital transformation – also plans to to broaden its executive team and invest in its sales, go to market and customer success initiatives as part of its growth strategy.

James Bunting, Leighton’s chief executive said: “It’s amazing to be able to talk about the next phase of our strategy.

“To be in such a strong financial position and able to be planning to take on 20 new colleagues this year is phenomenal, especially in the current climate.

“As a business that started in, and retains its headquarters, in the North East it’s absolutely fantastic to continue to play our part in contributing to the regional economy and to be able to provide job opportunities to people not only in this region but also further afield.

“It’s a really exciting time for the business and we’re really looking forward to the year ahead.”

As part of its recruitment drive Leighton will be looking to bring on board several high-level positions including a chief consulting officer to oversee its consultancy offering.

Leighton also recently appointed Steve Morland as chief technology officer, he will be responsible for accelerating digital transformation for Leighton’s customers.

Speaking about the strategy Steve Morland, Chief Technology Officer at Leighton said: “Our industry moves incredibly fast. Technology changes and so do our customers’ needs in line with user requirements. This means it’s incredibly important that we continue to be agile and adapt to market demand.
