Northern Gas and Power ‘marks new chapter’ with 100-job creation plans

An energy procurement consultancy aims to “reach its next level of growth” after revealing plans to create 100 jobs.

Global Procurement Group – which trades as Northern Gas and Power – says it wants new workers to boost operations at its new £2 million Riga headquarters, in Gateshead.

Roles include energy consultants, as well as training and technical posts, with bosses saying the new arrivals will help push the business’ existing international customer base beyond its current 22,000 mark.

They say that as well as its North East hub, a number of the new jobs will be based in the company’s French, US, India and Maltese offices.

Brendan Garvey, Global Procurement Group’s recently appointed chief people officer, said: “It’s an exciting time for the business, having recently moved into our stunning new waterfront headquarters.

“This next phase of recruitment marks yet another new chapter in the business’ evolution, from a start-up to a major international player in the global utilities space.

“We are looking for people to come and join us as we continue the transformation of the energy market.”

Global Procurement Group provides a variety of different sized businesses with services across energy procurement, energy management and real-time energy analysis, which, say officials, allows them to cut costs and carbon emissions.

Hundreds of staff have already moved into its Riga base, with the business running four floors in the waterfront development.

The company employs around 750 people internationally.
